Delightful Exuberance

When I paint, I'm happy.  I'm even happier when IT flows.  I don't know how to define IT, but sometimes it shows in my work.

I gave this one the title of "Delightful Exuberance"

Is it too much?  Is it beyond exuberance?  I like it.  It is the reflection of my frame of mind at the moment.

Working It!

I've been busy working on a new series of work for my new show at The HVR Art Ranch.

An Occasional Treat

Once in a while I like to live it up.... I had scheduled my annual lab work, which meant I had to  skip breakfast at home,  go to the lab to get blood drawn and then I went to one of my favorite San Diego hangout, Bread and Cie for a double non-fat latte and chocolate eclair.

It was decadent, delicious and totally guilt-free.

Life is good.

There are times when I feel fragmented.

Since my work is very much a reflection of my world... it shows.

These are images of some of the details on a large painting.  These fragments together may not work as a whole.  But there's definitely parts I love.  Just like my life right now.

 Life is chaotic.

Art Ranch - The Beginning

Once there was a house, then a fire, now a place for ART...

The HVR Art Ranch was conceived from an idea while working at the Escondido Arts Partnership. The Idea was shelved for awhile, keeping my focus on the job at hand. Then the wildfires of 2007 in San Diego happened. My house was a victim. Rebuilding our home became the focus. But somewhere in the background was that idea of the Art Ranch. A place for creating and making art, showcasing artists and art itself.

Four years later... the house is built. The design is an open loft-like space in the country. The walls were planned as per gallery specs, expansive to accommodate large paintings or multiple collections of small ones. The outdoor spaces will someday be a showcase of large scale sculptures in all mediums.

The future plans for studios are in the works. Our ultimate dream would be to create a retreat for a community of artists.

The Highland Valley Road (HVR) Art Ranch is our newborn child. It will take a community to raise this child. Let me know if you are interested in being part of the community.

Here's a selection of images of the ranch.

The New Parlor Room

Ten years ago, the owners of the Grand Colonial Hotel purchased a painting to hang in the meeting room. They recently went through a $500,000 renovation and I was happy to see that they kept the painting. It is now hanging in the Parlor Room.

Their restaurant (Nine-Ten) also have three of my paintings. Go have lunch or dinner and visit my paintings.

It was great to participate at the recent fundraising event at the Escondido Arts Partnership Gallery. The proceeds will go towards the HIgh School Exhibition at the gallery. Buy pieces of the art by the inch, 5 x 7 section is only $35. It's a fun way to collect art and support a good cause. It's not too have until March 6, 2012 to check it out at the Escondido Municipal Gallery, go to for address and hours.

What a beautiful day! The sun is shining and all is good.

Some Press

Some months ago one of my clients' home was featured on the cover of San Diego Home and Garden Lifestyles Magazine and lucky for me 2 of my paintings were hanging on the wall featured on the cover.

It was a honor working on these commissions.
